the sparks flew up and the snowflakes fell down on the people all gathered on the outskirts of town electrical guitars made majestical sounds we would've spoke but we had nothing left to say we wandered through the crowd, i held onto your hand till we found ourselves there right in front of the band i put my arms around you held you close and we danced as that giant bird went up in flames i looked into your eyes but there was nothing inside it was clear we had come to the end of our ride and this time we both knew when that phoenix burned down there was nothing left in those ashes this time to rise from the ground was there ever a time in this life i've been livin' when my heart didn't feel it was locked in a prison guilty as sin, with those sins unforgiven but my case never even made it to trial looking back i'm not sure what you wanted from me i only know i wasn't treated like i wanted to be i thought i was special but now i finally see i was nothing to you all the while i looked into your eyes but there was nothing inside it was clear we had come to the end of our ride and this time we both knew when that phoenix burned down nothing was left in those ashes this time to rise from the ground the days are now months, soon the months will be years but the pain of the hurt never once disappears it's useless to cry yet my eyes fill with tears As the fire turns to embers, and the embers turn to smoke, and the smoke turns into ashes

What was that noise? Just be quiet for a second. Was it some kind of rodent that the cat let in? Did I leave the door open? I mean, I just can't even... Well, come in relax and join me, I'm just sittin' down eatin'. I'm just trying to keep going, it's good to see you my dear friends. I've never been this old before- but I'll never be this young again. Sometimes I feel so tired with the weight of the world. People everywhere up front with their flags unfurled. So many diseases that can never be cured. People believing every crazy idea they've ever heard! I'm just minding my own business, unless I've got a helping hand to lend. I've never been this old before, but I'll never be this young again. The past ain't gonna change, and the future's unknown. What you do with the present is up to you alone. It's not getting any better, of that there's no doubt. So just take it while you can for what it is right now. I'm finding it's a thin line 'tween a wish and a worry. The future's gonna come, ain't no reason to hurry. I don't need to borrow trouble. I don't need to feel sorry. We won't know till then if it's a blizzard or a flurry. Would you argue with a fish? Would you try to debate with a hen? I've never been this old before. But I'll never be this young again.

The firewood's wet, my feet are cold and the engine's froze....but your light's on Gotta find a way to roll through these empty shows...get a buzz on A smile from that bartender girl woudl warm me down to my toes... I need some lovin' Ahh, through gardens of greenery, ahhh, through silvershade scenery, ahh, what every boy needs to be, ahhh... take it down easy You said, give me an inch and I'll take a mile... well, maybe I said, come on for the ride, you might find it worthwhile... c'mon baby Then again what's a ride like me got to offer you child....Lord save me Ahh, through gardens of greenery, ahhh, through silvershade scenery, ahh, what every boy needs to be, ahhh... take it down easy The truth is, I guess every now and then ....I kinda miss her More like every now and every then... I wanna kiss her Meanwhile, I like to remember that sneaky grin... it makes me shiver Ahh, through gardens of greenery, ahhh, through silvershade scenery, ahh, what every boy needs to be, ahhh... take it down easy

There’s a cowboy riding driftwood down the gorge… [tha]‘t’s fed by the river, [tha]‘t’s fed by the spring, from the hill with the ruined forge He’s hanging on for dear life in the wild fury of the water His knuckles are white His knuckles are raw And he can’t hold on much longer Ho-o-old on, oh oh, oh oh Ho-o-old on, hold on, oh oh There’s a lonesome stranger on a Greyhound bus looking out a grimy window [He]‘ sees a crowd of people standing at the crosswalk waiting for a chance to move to the underground to the escalators to the elevators, to their penthouse rooms He’s clutching his baggage and his knuckles are white and raw and he can’t hold on much longer Ho-o-old on, oh oh, oh oh Ho-o-old on, hold on, oh oh There’s a woman out there all dressed in grey standing with a shovel in the meadow She’s digging a hole underneath the hot sun but the rocks and stones won’t let her Nothing’s growing here It’s [a]‘s dry as a bone She shakes the last drop out of a bottle But a tear falls down and her knuckles are raw and she can’t hold on much longer Ho-o-old on, oh oh, oh oh Ho-o-old on, hold on, oh oh Hand over that shovel There’ll always be trouble There’s gonna be some struggles Along that road Let go of that driftwood I’ll take your burden Take hold of my hand you can lighten my load Ho-o-old on, oh oh, oh oh Ho-o-old on, hold on, oh oh

If I stumble if I fall If I slide into the creek If I trip along the train track With these shackles on my feet Would you pick me from the stickerbush If I’m covered all in mud Would you help me pull out all the thorns And wipe off all this blood I need to know Is your love true Would you help me find my way back if I lost my way from you I’m all alone And I’m running out of time I need to know if you’re still out there and if I’m… still ever on your mind When the dark clouds roll on in All heavy with rain When the winds begin to whippin’ All the troubles in my brain Will you listen to my story Will you hear the tale I tell Through all the pounding thunder And the ringing of the bells I need to know Is your love true Would you help me find my way back if I lost my way from you I’m all alone And I’m running out of time I need to know if you’re still out there and if I’m… still ever on your mind My clothes are soaked right to the bone and I’m shivering inside I don’t know where I’m going, I got no place left to hide If I stumble if I fall If I slide into the creek If I trip along the train track With these shackles on my feet Would you pick me from the stickerbush If I’m covered all in mud Would you help me pull out all the thorns And wipe off all this blood I need to know Is your love true Would you help me find my way back if I lost my way from you I’m all alone And I’m running out of time I need to know if you’re still out there and if I’m… still ever on your mind Still ever on your mind

Everything here has all been here before The wind and the waves and the sea and the shore The songs that we sing are the notes that we hear Things that we want are the things that are near There’s thunder and lightning inside of the stone And mountains and caverns you don’t walk alone But shadows are turning back into the light And pinnacles climbing down from a great height The bird wants the sky and the sky wants the rain The rain it wants to be ocean again Rocks into sand and sand into sea Everything’s trying its best to be free The things we have lost will all come back again Loved ones and lighters and misplaced red pens Money in couches and lovers through doors Will come back as something we’ve not yet looked for So you the sweet ocean and you the soft sand Were once walking with me and holding my hand And the birds o’er the sea were once a dear friend Everything circles and changes and bends The bird wants the sky and the sky wants the rain The rain it wants to be ocean again Rocks into sand and sand into sea Everything’s trying its best to be free

Winds blow away the tracks in the snow. How can I follow? Where can I go? The trail disappeared long ago. Not a trace up ahead, nor behind, nor below. Snowflakes are falling. It's Valentine's Day. It's piled so high the plows can't find their way. It's 10 degrees now, but it feels 10 below. Stuck here in Seekonk … now where can I go? This place been a ghost town for years. People pass through, but they never stay here. There's no point in hanging around. They board it all up till they tear it all down. All you can do is just hope for the best. Choose a direction let time do the rest. Use the time wisely. It's all that you've got. It’ll move right along if you're ready….. -or not. I suppose that it's time that I went. Saddle my pony, pack up my tent. One step, two steps, three, four, five. Savor being alive, and know that you'll never arrive.

Leaves falling down, the kid’s back in school Red yellow and brown, but the gold always rules The sun will keep shining on the wise men and the fools But if you wanna reap the harvest you gotta have the right tools I’m drifting through the clouds and the papal addresses Politicians saying they’ll clean up our messes Economists and scientists and college professors They’ll torture the data until it confesses But the fresh wind is still blowin The clean snow is still snowin’ I know it'll be alright So let’s shake it up tonight It’s hard to keep up with all these Kardashians Surgical diets and plasticized passions Everything that we need’s in our own reflection But if it's something we can’t have, it becomes our obsession I’m drifting through the clouds and the papal addresses Politicians saying they’ll clean up our messes Economists and scientists and college professors They’ll torture the data until it confesses But the fresh wind is still blowin The clean snow is still snowin’ I know it'll be alright So let’s shake it up tonight The fresh wind is still blowin The clean snow is still snowin’ I know it'll be alright So let’s shake it up tonight Shake it up tonight

I got a bird that whistle I got a bird that sing Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring I got a bird that whistle I got a bird that sing And I’m not worried, I’m not worried ‘bout a thing We don’t need no silver We don’t need no gold We got all of the love, all the love a heart can hold Don’t the moon look good mama Don’t the moon look sweet Slidin’ on down, glidin’ down on into the trees Don’t the moon look pretty mama Don’t the moon look sweet Shinin’ on down, shining down just for you and me We don’t fear no thunder We ain’t afraid of no rain Our love is stronger, stronger than any old pain So lay down now baby Lay down and rest your head Rest your head on your pillow, on your pillow on your cool soft bed Goodnight silver moon Sweet dreams black sky Wake up with the sun, wake up with the sun and a smile I got a bird that whistle I got a bird that sing Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring Gonna see what tomorrow, see what tomorrow’s gonna bring
